Luis Alves has an interesting track in the Community Pharmacy World…
Starting in Pharmaceutical Marketing, his path takes him to the Pharmaceutical Industry and to the beginning of generic drugs in 2003 at Labesfal Genericos Portugal. It’s an incredible phase where you take the opportunity to absorb all possible knowledge about how the world of medication works and a perfect time to try new challenges.
This knowledge leads Luís Alves to look at Community Pharmacy with more interest and he re-enters the University to study Pharmacy Technician, he feels more comfortable around patients and being close to people who need health care has become his objective. After finishing this degree, he will work in a prime area of ??Porto where Dermocosmética is the strongest service.
Luís is a very curious person and after a year he moves to the opposite area, a poor area where common medicines, medicines for animals and agricultural products are the most sold products in the pharmacy. For a year he drinks this knowledge and observes the difference between people in different demographic areas.
Over the next few years, Luís Alves will experience different environments, pharmacies in big and small cities, in shopping centres and in the centre of cities, pharmacies with 40 pharmacists and pharmacies with only 2 pharmacists and, at the same time, decides to do a Masters in Pharmacy to become a Pharmacist, ending in 2014, having passed through several areas within the community pharmacy, from Marketing to compounded medicines, management and training of new pharmacists, etc.
At the end of 2016, Luis Alves is invited to move to Ireland, and between 2017 and 2021 he maintains the same path, continuing to learn in all the places where he works as a Supervisor Pharmacist, as a Support Pharmacist, in Co. Mayo and Dublin, in large pharmacy chains and small pharmacies.
In 2022 Luís Alves opens his own company, in which he intends to show his vision of Community Pharmacy, continuing to serve the population with health care in the best possible way.
